Soul Deep
Soul Deep was formed in early 2004 to play soul music - a combination of urban blues, early R&B, plus a dash of Jazz and Rock.
This style of music appeals to a wide cross-section of people, and the age range of the band - from 14 to 50 something, probably mirrors that of the likely audience.
Leading the soul artists whose music is covered by the band include James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Picket and Etta James. As well, the band covers leading Motown artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Spinners and Martha Reeves, plus "white soul artists" such as Van Morrison and Joe Cocker. Throw in some jump blues, soulful ballads, afro/disco dance grooves and some Joe Setefano originals and you have the Soul Deep mix.
This band is large! Currently there are twelve members, comprising two lead vocalists (one male and one female), and two female backing vocalist. Plus a four piece horn section, drums, percussionist, bass, keyboards and guitar.
Soul Deep performances tend to become events, with an emphasis on audience participation, dancing and enjoyment. As the band has become better known it has tended to be engaged for more and more private functions.
